Party Ham Sandwiches
On Sunday nights, I have bourbon and cigar night on my front porch. This has become one of the most popular things I make. You’re thinking “ham sandwich.” This is something so much more than that. It is incredibly easy and amazingly delicious.

Ingredients
- 1 12 roll pack of King Hawaiian rolls
- 12 think slices of ham (Tavern ham in the deli if possible)
- 6oz Fontina Cheese finely grated
- 1 tbs butter
- 1 tbs all-purpose flour
- 1 cup whole or 2% milk
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbs honey mustard
Instructions
- Slice the King Hawaiian rolls in half across their height so you have tops and bottoms for sandwiches.
- Place in a casserole dish that has been sprayed with cooking spray. Preheat the oven to 350ºF.
- Fold the slices of ham into quarters and place them on top of the twelve bottom pieces of bread.
- Sprinkle the grated cheese on top evenly.
- In a saucepot over medium heat, melt the butter. Sprinkle in the flour and stir for two minutes. Add the pepper and whisk. Pour in the milk and whisk. Bring to a heavy simmer so it thickens, whisking steadily. Remove from the heat and whisk in the honey mustard.
- Pour over the bread. Please the top portion of bread on.
- Place in the oven for 15-20 minutes until the cheese is melted. Remove from the oven and, with a sharp knife, cut through the sandwiches on the lines of the individual rolls to make individual sandwiches.
